Dream Builder Society
Since 1977, we have grown from a small eight-bed volunteer-run shelter to a multi-site provider of free compassionate, confidential, and client-centered programs. Today, Gillian’s Place helps empower thousands of survivors every year to break the cycle of violence and abuse.
While it is heartbreaking that this growth has been needed to support survivors in our community, the programs and services we provide would not be possible without significant individual and corporate gifts.
Gillian’s Place simply does not receive enough ministry funding to sustain our priority life-changing, and often life-saving programs. We are often asked what our biggest need is. Simply put, we need stable funding to ensure we are providing effective intervention and preventative gender-based violence work.
That is why we developed the Dream Builder Society. Our Dream Builder Society is geared towards individuals, organizations, or foundations who are looking to make a significant impact through a one-time or multi-year major gift.
By selecting a gift level below, you will be making a meaningful and impactful contribution to our operations at Gillian’s Place.
Building Hope
$5,000 or $1,000 a year for five years
A $5,000 gift to Gillian’s Place can help provide additional child care when children are not attending school.
$1,000 is approximately the cost of providing targeted support to one child.
Creating Choices
$10,000 or $2,000 a year for five years
A $10,000 gift could provide supportive housing for two families for one-year.
$2,000 can provide ten survivors emergency cell phones when needed most.
Empowering Dreams
$25,000 or $5,000 a year for five years
A one-time or pledged gift of $25,000 can provide much-needed stable funding for our legal program. As the first Shelter in Ontario to employ a full-time family law lawyer, we receive no formal annualized funding for her role. Helping a crisis case load of over 600 clients per year, this program is 90% donor driven.
Changing Lives
$50,000 or $10,000 a year for five years
This level allows you to have a far-ranging impact on the brave souls who turn to Gillian’s Place. A gift at this level represents a significant investment in helping sustain and expand underfunded, yet critical programs. Programs like community education, violence prevention, and our innovative second-stage housing and support program are just a few that require this level of attention and investment.
