Gillian's Place and West Niagara Second Stage Housing to Operate as One Organization
As esteemed stakeholders in our fight to end violence against women, we would like to share some exciting news. After much consultation and planning, we are pleased to announce that West Niagara Second Stage Housing & Counselling Inc. (WNSS) became a part of Gillian’s Place, effective April 1st, 2018. On April 28th, we announced and celebrated this news to the attendees at WNSS’s farewell gala.
The staff, facility and services of WNSS have been taken on under the umbrella of Gillian’s Place, and will now be known as Gillian’s Place - West Niagara. While the name and administrative structure of the organization will change, what will not change is our commitment to serving women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
This decision comes after considering the incredible benefit to the women and children that both organizations were separately serving. This move comes out of a long shared mutual respect, overlapping catchment areas, complementary programming, shared funders and a desire to serve our clients in the most accessible and efficient way possible. Operating as one organization fully integrated into North/West Niagara helps to create a sense of security and trust for women as they move across multiple services offered by one organization. We are confident this will improve our ability to offer a fuller array of trauma-informed support and service to women and children.
Here is what you need to know during this time of transition:
- If you are interested in donating, cheques can be made out to Gillian’s Place
- All monetary donations and invoices will be directed to our main administrative office at PO Box 1387, St. Catharines ON L2R 7J8, ATTN Development
- Inquiries about volunteering and donations for both locations can be made to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 905-684-4000 extension 233
- Clients will choose to access service at the location that best serves their needs
We are encouraged and excited about what this transfer means for our clients. Our positive 20-year working relationship has fostered mutual respect and common goals and we look forward to seeing how our joining together will shape the future for women experiencing abuse.
